Policy and Regulation Experts to Provide Insight at Gulf Coast Industry Forum

DEER PARK, TEXAS (August 19, 2016) –Dr. Bryan Shaw, Chairman of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and Hector Rivero, president of the Texas Chemical Council, will put a spotlight on regulations at the upcoming Economic Alliance Gulf Coast Industry Forum (GCIF). The two-day forum will take place at the Pasadena Convention Center. Shaw and Rivero will give their presentations on Thursday, August 25.

gulf coast industryThe Gulf Coast Industry Forum (GCIF), formerly known as the Petrochemical & Maritime Outlook Conference (PMOC), shifts to a two-day format for the first time. The event begins Wednesday, August 24 at 1:00 p.m. with Port of Houston Executive Director Roger Guenther’s opening keynote and concludes with an afternoon closing keynote by General Land Office Commissioner George P. Bush on Thursday, August 25.

“Dr. Bryan Shaw and Hector Rivero will be huge assets to the Gulf Coast Industry Forum. Both Dr. Shaw and Hector keep their finger on the pulse of regulations and policy impacting our industry better than anyone I know,” said Chad Burke, president and CEO of the Economic Alliance Houston Port Region. “They will provide great insight into what the industry should be monitoring from a regulations perspective and the audience will be wiser having listened to Dr. Shaw and Hector,” added Burke.

Texas Railroad Commissioner Ryan Sitton will deliver the luncheon keynote address on Thursday, providing a Texas and national perspective on the oil and gas industry. The Texas Railroad Commission regulates the exploration, production and transportation of oil and natural gas in Texas. Thursday’s agenda also includes a petrochemical panel where managers will discuss progress and challenges of plant expansions and impacts on the Texas and U.S. economies.

On Wednesday, August 24, Congressman Gene Green (TX-29) and Congressman Brian Babin (TX-36) will deliver a Congressional update which will be followed by Wednesday’s closing keynote. ExxonMobil Senior Vice President Bruce March will provide a global perspective of the chemical industry and how the Gulf Coast is poised to play a major role over the next decade during his closing keynote address.
